Gryphons keep Ridgebacks from opening weekend victory

The Ontario Tech women's hockey team suffered a 4-1 loss on Saturday afternoon in their second home game in as many days.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first, Nicole Escano (Kingston, Ont.) evened the score with 15 seconds left in the opening period.
 
The Gryphons' offence came alive in the second as they outscored the Ridgebacks 3-0. Despite their best efforts, Ontario Tech was unable to mount a comeback.

Ridgebacks' goalie Brooke Vital (Port Moody, B.C.) made 27 saves in Saturday afternoon's loss.

The Ridgebacks will begin a three-game road trip on Thursday, Nov. 3, when they travel to Toronto to take on the Varsity Blues. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
