Game Recap: Men's Hockey | | Ontario Tech Sports Information

White scores twice in win over Stingers

After a tough overtime loss against the McGill Redbirds on Saturday, the Ontario Tech men's hockey team bounced back with a 5-4 win on Sunday afternoon against the Concordia Stingers.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first period, James White (Peterborough, Ont.) got the Ridgebacks on the board and evened the game at one. Stingers would score less than a minute later at the 18:03 mark and take a 2-1 lead into the intermission.

The Ridgeback offence came alive in the second period. They outscored the Stingers 3-0, with two coming on the power play, to take a 4-2 lead. The goals came courtesy of Stephen Calisti (Etobicoke, Ont.), Noah McMullin (Beaver Bank, N.S.) and White, who put in his second of the game.

Concordia would score twice in the final 20 minutes, but Drew Toner's (Grand Falls, N.B.) third-period tally would put the game out of reach for the Stingers.

Ridgebacks goalie Leif Hertz (Kingston, Ont.) finished Sunday's home win with 33 saves.

Ontario Tech's next game is on Wednesday, Oct. 26, against the RMC Paladins in Kingston. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
