SUDBURY, Ont. – Graddy Kanku (Ottawa, Ont.) and his near triple double performance of 20 points, nine rebounds and eight assists helped the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks men's basketball team defeat the Laurentian Voyageurs 87-79 and secure their first win of the regular season on Sunday night.
After dropping their home opener to the Voyageurs on Nov. 5, the Ridgebacks came out on a mission. The men's team took a nine-point lead into halftime and never looked back.
Ammar Hassan (London, Ont.) was the games' top scorer with 22 points and
Kahleek Bakare-Whyte (Toronto, Ont.) recorded 10 points, seven boards and seven assists in a team-high 37 minutes. Jordan Katchuga was the top performer for the Voyageurs, putting up a 20 point, 10 rebound double-double.
The Ridgebacks' next game will be at home on Nov. 12 when they take on the Ottawa Gee-Gees. Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m.
