OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ottawa Gee-Gees showed why they're currently the
third ranked team in Canada as they handed the Ontario Tech men's basketball team a 100-59 loss on Friday night.
The Gee-Gees ended the first with a 28-12 advantage and would maintain a lead of at least 20 points for the entire second half. Cole Newton led the way for the Gee-Gees, scoring 16 points and shooting 89 per cent from the field. Gage Sabean also had a strong shooting night, knocking down four threes with 12 points and five rebounds.
Anthony Pate (Oakville, Ont.) was the top scorer with 16 points.
Ammar Hassan (London, Ont.) finished with 15 points in a team-high 33 minutes.
The Ridgebacks will be back at home on Saturday as they look to win a rematch against the Gee-Gees. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
