OSHAWA, Ont. – After over 600 days, the Ridgebacks women's hockey team returned to the ice for regular season OUA hockey in a tough fought 2-1 loss to the defending champion Toronto Varsity Blues.
Katie Heath (Elora, Ont.) got the Ridgebacks on the board with an assist from
Natalie Wozney (Whitby, Ont.) six minutes into the first period, but the Varsity Blues stout defence kept Ontario Tech's offence in check throughout the game, limiting them to just 19 shots on goal.
We're back! The Ontario Tech women's hockey team opened their season at home Thursday against Toronto, narrowly falling to the defending champs.
Brooke Vial (Port Moody, B.C.) was in net for the Ridgebacks and made 28 saves on the night.
With home opener out of the way, the Ridgebacks will now head to Toronto for second game against the Varsity Blues on Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.
