OSHAWA, Ont. – The No. 6 Ottawa Gee-Gees showed why they deserved their national ranking on Friday night, defeating the Ontario Tech women's basketball team 101-52.
The Gee-Gees started the first quarter on a 14-0 run and never looked back. They would go on to lead by as much as 52 in the third quarter.
Brigitte Lefebvre-Okankwu led the Gee-Gees in scoring with 18 points and Natsuki Szczokin was perfect from the field, while recording 14 points and seven assists.
Vanessa Budimunda (Montreal, Que.) had a strong showing for the Ridgebacks, scoring 16 points with eight boards.
The Ridgebacks will get a chance to bounce back tomorrow at home against the Gee-Gees as they complete the weekend series. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
