ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's basketball team led early, but ran out of gas in their first preseason game on Wednesday night against the Brock Badgers.
 
Brock defeated the Ridgebacks 77-55, despite Ontario Tech leading 17-15 after the opening quarter. At the half the Badgers led 27-25. A big third quarter is when Brock took over as they expanded their lead to 49-37 en route to their victory.
 
Kamelya Brodeur (Laval, Que.) led the team in scoring in her first game as a Ridgeback with 12 points on four three-pointers. Harriette Mackenzie (Comox, B.C.) wasn't far off pace in her debut with nine points.
 
Ontario Tech returns to action on Saturday in Waterloo against the Laurier Golden Hawks. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m.
