OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's basketball team closed out its home schedule on a high note Saturday night, pulling away late to defeat the Nipissing Lakers 70–63.
Prior to the game, the Ridgebacks honoured their graduating seniors,
Brianna Morrison,
Ellycea Burke and
Elliot Cowan, for their outstanding contributions to the team.
Ontario Tech held a slim advantage for much of the opening half, taking a 24–22 lead into the break after a defensive-minded first 20 minutes. The Ridgebacks continued to trade baskets with Nipissing through the third quarter before finding another gear down the stretch, outscoring the Lakers 30–21 in the fourth to secure the win.
Adra Barnet led the Ridgebacks with 14 points, while
Rosheen Antonroy added 13 points and five assists.
Brianna Morrison chipped in 12 points, and
Elliot Cowan finished with nine points, five rebounds, and key plays on both ends late in the game. Ontario Tech also received strong contributions off the bench, outscoring Nipissing 26–12 from its reserves.
Defensively, the Ridgebacks forced 24 turnovers and converted those into 21 points, helping swing momentum in the final quarter.
Ontario Tech wraps up the regular season next weekend when it hits the road to face the Queen's Gaels on Friday, February 13 at 6 p.m.
