OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's soccer program is pleased to announce the signing of Shyanne Pierog-Taylor.
From Oshawa, the 5'4 midfielder joins the Ridgebacks from Monsignor John Pereyma Catholic Secondary School and FC Durham Academy.
"Shyanne is an excellent example of the growing talent pool in the Durham Region," said head coach
Audra Sherman. "We are excited to add another local player to our Ridgeback family."
Last season Pierog-Taylor was playing at a higher level with FC Durham's U21 Ontario Women's Soccer League squad, which posted a 9-4-0 record. Prior to her 2018 season, also with FC Durham, she spent 2017 with United FA. That season they were Ontario Player Development League (OPDL) finalists.
As a defensive midfielder she doesn't have many stats to point to, but for three years straight was identified as one of the top 100 girls in Ontario at the provincial team tryouts.
"This was one of my biggest thrills because it proves my hard work and talent during the season was recognized," said Pierog-Taylor. "Before joining a showcase team I always enjoyed competing for championships and the provincial team."
Outside of soccer, she also played volleyball at high school and as captain led their team to a LOSSA final, to OFSAA and back to the LOSSA championship in 2019.
Sherman is expected to continue her announcements for the 2020 recruiting class in the coming weeks and months.
