OSHAWA, Ont. – A pair of players from the Ontario Tech women's hockey team were recognized for their stellar seasons on Monday by the OUA.
Natalie Wozney (Whitby, Ont.) was named a first-team all-star, while teammate
Nicole Escano (Kingston, Ont.) was named to the all-rookie team.
Wozney, who came to Ontario Tech after two years playing in the NCAA, drove the Ridgebacks offence, as she led the team in both goal scoring (11) and overall points (23). Her production placed her third in league scoring, while her goal output was enough to finish the year tied for fifth in the league.
Escano, a true OUA freshman, led the Ridgebacks defence in scoring, posting eight points (3G, 5A). Her output was enough to finish 14
th in league scoring among defenceman, while she was the second highest scoring rookie defenceman in the league.
Wozney becomes the third Ridgeback to earn a first-team all-star nod, joining
Kassidy Nauboris and
Jill Morillo.
Escano joins Morillo as just the second skater, and fourth player overall, from Ontario Tech women's hockey program to be named to the all-rookie team, with
Cassie Charette and
Tori Campbell rounding out the group.
