OTTAWA, Ont. – The UOIT men's hockey team dropped their second straight game after a 3-1 loss to the Carleton Ravens on Saturday evening in Ottawa.
Less than 24 hours after falling 2-1 in overtime to the Nipissing Lakers, the Ridgebacks got on the bus and made the trek to the nation's capital. UOIT's offence continued to struggle as they only produced one second period goal, as
Loren Ulett (Port Perry, Ont.) scored his first of the season, deflecting a point shot in the back of the net on the power play.
Jesse Baird (Brampton, Ont.) and
Tyler Mayea (Burlington, Ont.) added assists.
In six conference games, the Ridgebacks have scored an eastern conference low 11 goals.
The Ravens opened the scoring when Jared Steege burst around the UOIT defence and scored on a backhand on the power play.
With UOIT on the power play in the second period, Wyatt Noskey and Alexandre Boivin converted on a 2-on-1 in transition to put the Ravens up 2-0.
UOIT was able to bounce back as Ulett's goal came just 36 seconds later, on the same power play.
Carleton extended the lead to 3-1 when forward Fabian Walsh took a pass from Adam Chapman and wired a shot into the top corner.
The Ridgebacks had a chance to make it close, but the Ravens were able to close out the game killing off a 5-on-3 penalty.
Tyson Teichmann (Belleville, Ont.) made 22 saves in the losing effort. He has appeared in four games this season and is sporting a 3.05 goals against average. Francois Brassard made 20 saves in his fourth win of the year.
Up next for UOIT will be a train trip to Montreal as the Ridgebacks take on the Concordia Stingers (Nov. 3) and McGill Redmen (Nov. 4).
