SUDBURY, Ont. – The UOIT men's soccer team will be looking to close the gap Wednesday against Toronto after splitting their weekend up north.
UOIT fell 1-0 to Laurentian on Sunday after earning a 1-0 win on Saturday over Nipissing.
The lone goal of the match came in the second half off the foot of Liam Ezzard in the 62
nd minute of play.
Nicholas Miller (Oshawa, Ont.) took the loss in goal, making four saves in his second game back in the lineup after missing a game and a half due to injury.
Connor Vande Weghe made seven saves for Laurentian in the victory.
The Ridgebacks dominated play with 22 shots in the game, compared to Laurentian's 12, but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities.
UOIT will next host the Toronto Varsity Blues on Wednesday at Vaso's Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:15 p.m.
The Ridgebacks currently hold the final playoff spot in the east with seven points, four back of fifth place Toronto and two up on the seventh place Trent Excalibur.
