WATERLOO, Ont. – Unfortunately for the UOIT women's hockey team they were unable to come out on the winning end of an evenly played game against the Laurier Golden Hawks on Thursday night.
With the score tied 0-0 through two periods and the Ridgebacks being outshot 25-20, UOIT turned the tide to outshoot Laurier 13-8 in the third, but the Golden Hawks were the lone team to find the back of the net as they earned a 2-0 victory over UOIT.
Kaitlyn Hatzes, assisted by Jessie Hurrell, opened the scoring for Laurier at the 3:35 mark of the third.
With 6:07 to play in the game Jessica Prevette gave the Golden Hawks their insurance marker. Madison MacCulloch and Blair Connelly earned the assists.
Cassis Charette (Ottawa, Ont.) made 31 saves for UOIT in the loss, while Amanda Smith made 33 saves for her second shutout of the season.
UOIT will now prepare for their trip to Kingston on Sunday to face the Queen's Gaels.
