KINGSTON, Ont. – All four games in September for the UOIT women's soccer team have finished in a 1-0 result. Fortunately for the Ridgebacks, three of those games have ended up in their favour.
On Saturday in Kingston, the Ridgebacks blanked Queen's with
Helen Frampton (Toronto, Ont.) making five saves to record her fourth shutout of the season. UOIT's defence has been outstanding having allowed a league low three goals against this year.
Alessia Mattucci (Thornhill, Ont.) scored her first goal as a Ridgeback just ten minutes into the game, which turned out to be the game winner.
Shots on target ended up 6-5 in favour of the Ridgebacks.
UOIT (4-2-0) moves into a tie for fifth place in the OUA eastern conference with the Gaels (3-2-3) but have two games in hand. The Ridgebacks have only played six games where all four teams ahead of them have either played eight or nine.
UOIT will be back in action tomorrow afternoon when they head across town to play the RMC Paladins. RMC is 1-5-0 this year as they picked up their first win on Saturday against Trent.
