Ridgebacks host playoff match on Wednesday

OUA Women's Soccer Playoffs
UOIT vs. Carleton – Wednesday, Oct. 28 – 5:30 p.m.
 
OSHAWA, Ont. – For the third straight season the UOIT women's soccer team will host a playoff game at home as they finished the regular season in third place in the competitive eastern conference.
 
The Ridgebacks (9-5-2) will host the Carleton Ravens (7-6-3) on Wednesday at the Oshawa Civic in the opening round of the playoffs. Kick-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
 
The two teams met this weekend in Scarborough, with the Ridgebacks earning a 2-1 victory over the Ravens. In the only other meeting between the two teams this season, UOIT shutout Carleton 1-0.
 
This will mark the first time that the two teams have squared off in the postseason.
 
In 16 conference games, UOIT allowed a league-low seven goals against, tied with the western conference leading York Lions.
 
Despite finishing ahead of Carleton in the standings, the Ridgebacks enter the playoffs on a losing note after a 1-0 loss to Ottawa while Carleton comes in with a win over Trent.
 
UOIT is 1-1 all-time in the opening round of the OUA playoffs, with both games coming against the McMaster Marauders. Emily Copeland-Dinan, who scored in penalty kicks in the Ridgebacks playoff win over McMaster, who now plays for Carleton.
