OUA Women's Soccer: UOIT defeated Nipissing 4-0
 
OSHAWA, Ont. – The No. 6 ranked UOIT women's soccer team capped off another 2-0 weekend as they defeated the Nipissing Lakers by a score of 4-0 on Sunday afternoon.
 
Heading into the final week of the regular season, UOIT sports an 11-0-2 record and is one point behind the No. 2 ranked Ottawa Gee-Gees (12-1-0) for top spot in the OUA eastern conference standings. Following a mid-week game at Ryerson (3-8-1), UOIT and Ottawa will square off on Saturday afternoon in the nation's capital.
 
UOIT also sits eight points ahead of the Queen's Gaels (8-2-3) for second place in the conference. With only three games remaining in the regular season, UOIT's magic number is just one point, as they look to clinch a bye in the opening round of the playoffs for the first time in program history.
 
Shynice Williams (Mississauga, Ont.) stretched her goal-scoring streak to four games, as she got the Ridgebacks on the board just six minutes into Sunday's contest. Williams would cut up the middle of the field and chip it over the goalkeeper for her fourth goal of the season.
 
The Ridgebacks would add some separation early in the second half when Sara Voisin (Waterloo, Ont.) headed in a free kick from Kylie Bordeleau (Cambridge, Ont.) in the 49^th minute, followed by a bullet from Cassandra Sribny (Pickering, Ont.) four minutes later. Sribny has recorded seven goals this season and is currently on a three-game goal-scoring streak.
 
Rachel Matthews (Ajax, Ont.) added a late goal in the 85^th minute, as she has six goals in her freshman campaign for UOIT.
 
UOIT dominated possession and outshot Nipissing 27-3. Melissa Linton (Cobourg, Ont.) earned her fifth consecutive shutout stopping the Lakers' lone shot on target
 
UOIT finishes the year 6-0-2 on home turf, with Sunday's game being the Ridgebacks' regular season home finale. The Ridgebacks will wrap up their regular season with three road matches against Ryerson (Wednesday), Ottawa (Saturday) and Carleton (Sunday).
