UOIT heats up with a win over McMaster
OUA Women's Soccer: UOIT defeated McMaster 1-0
HAMILTON, Ont. – The UOIT women's soccer team earned their second win of the weekend on Sunday afternoon as they shutout the McMaster Marauders by a score of 1-0.
Sara Voisin (Waterloo, Ont.) picked a great time to record her first goal of the year as she scored during injury time of the first half. Voisin received a beautiful pass behind the McMaster defence from freshman
Kayla De Souza (Scarborough, Ont.) to give her a clear break on net. The second-year kinesiology major would make no mistake as she buried it in the top corner.
UOIT played a great defensive game limiting McMaster to just four shots on target, all of which were stopped by goalkeeper
Laura Whelan (St. John's, N.F.) for the cleansheet.
UOIT has been on a hot-streak as of late as they have won four of their last five games. The Ridgebacks are back to the .500 mark as they sport a 5-5-2 conference record, moving them into a tie with McMaster for fourth place in the OUA western conference standings.
The teams will become very familiar with one-another as they meet up again on Friday night in Oshawa. Game time at Vaso's Field is 6 p.m.
Last season, McMaster beat UOIT 2-1 in the opening round of the playoffs.
