VanMoerkerke named UOIT’s student-athlete of the week

OSHAWA, Ont. – Luke VanMoerkerke (Tillsonburg, Ont.) of the men’s hockey team has been named the UOIT student-athlete of the week presented by Boston Pizza North Oshawa for the period ending January 9.

VanMoerkerke, a fourth year business major, had a three-point weekend to take over the lead in the UOIT scoring race. The graduating senior managed to score two goals against the nationally ranked McGill Redmen and recorded an assist that next day against Concordia. In his last five games, he has scored two goals and three assists to give him 18 points this season. The Ridgebacks will close out their regular season on Saturday followed by the playoffs next week.
