Biesenthal, a nursing major, scored her second career goal on Friday with a blast from the point going bar down past Aurore Beaulieu. The goal put the Ridgebacks within one in the second period, but ultimately they lost their opening game of 2019 to the Guelph Gryphons. Biesenthal was also honoured prior to Friday's game for playing over 100 conference games with the Ridgebacks.
 
Both hockey teams are in action on the road this week as the women's team faces the Toronto Varsity Blues on Thursday night and Ryerson Rams on Saturday. The men travel north to face the Nipissing Lakers and Laurentian Voyageurs.
 
The UOIT student-athlete of the week award is presented by Subway located at 2069 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa.
