OSHAWA, Ont. – Briar Hughes (Thornton, Ont.) of the women's hockey team and Alex Yuill(Wellington, Ont.) of the men's hockey team have been named the UOIT student-athletes of the week for the period ending January 21.
 
Hughes, a communications & digital media studies major, recorded her third career shutout on Saturday in a 2-0 victory over the Western Mustangs. She stopped 25 Mustang shots in the win for her second shutout of the season, her first coming October 21 on the road against the Waterloo Warriors.

This weekend the women's hockey team hits the road, while the men are in North Bay on Friday night before returning home to host the Concordia Stingers at the Campus Ice Centre on Friday night.

The UOIT student-athlete of the week award is presented by Subway located at 2069 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa.
