OSHAWA, Ont. – Cassandra Sribny (Pickeirng, Ont.) of the women's soccer team and Erik Petrovic(Sombor, Serbia) of the men's soccer team have been named the UOIT student-athletes of the week for the period ending Oct. 22.
 
Sribny, a commerce major, led the UOIT women's soccer team to a 5-1 victory over the Nipissing Lakers on Sunday afternoon. The fifth-year striker quickly opened the scoring with two goals in the second and ninth minutes of play. A top scorer for UOIT and dominant threat in front of the net, Sribny marked her ninth goal of the season. Her regular season goal total was ninth in OUA scoring.

The women's team await their quarter-final opponent. The game will be played Saturday or Sunday at the Oshawa Civic.

The UOIT student-athlete of the week award is presented by Subway located at 2069 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa.
