OSHAWA, Ont. – Erik Petrovic (Sombor, Serbia) of the men's soccer team and Mackenzie Dasti(Oshawa, Ont.) of the men's golf team have been named the UOIT student-athletes of the week for the period ending October 8.
 
Petrovic had a two-goal outburst in the Ridgebacks' 2-1 win over the Nipissing Lakers that moved UOIT into fourth place in the eastern conference standings. The Ridgeback captain scored in the opening minute of the game and had a great solo effort in the 34th minute for the game-winning goal. Petrovic has four goals on the year and is tied with teammate Fabio Campoli for the program lead in goals.
 
The UOIT athlete of the week award is presented by Subway located at 2069 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa.
