OSHAWA, Ont. – Jeff Braithwaite (Ennismore, Ont.) has been named UOIT's athlete of the week presented by Subway.
 
Braithwaite, a business major, helped lead the Ridgebacks to victory in a close game against the Nipissing Lakers on Sunday in North Bay. With the Lakers scoring three goals in the second period, the Ridgebacks mounted a comeback to end the game with a final score of 4-3. The 6'0 defenceman assisted on the game-tying goal and then scored the game winner, unassisted, with 4:55 remaining in the third. Braithwaite earned himself a two-point night as UOIT picked up an important two points to stay in the mix in the OUA east division standings. Currently they sit two points behind fourth place Carleton.
 
The Ridgebacks are back on the road this Friday, Jan. 20, facing the Brock Badgers. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
 
The UOIT athlete of the week awards are presented by Subway located at 2069 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa.
