VanMoerkerke joins the Ridgebacks coaching staff after a four-year playing career with the program. During that time he was the captain for a season and assistant captain for two. The letter on his Jersey was not the only proof of his leadership qualities, as he was the recipient of the Chris Kostka leadership award in 2010-11 and the James Baun Cup in 2013-14. On top of his leadership, he was also very skilled on the ice earning offensive player of the year for the past two seasons. In his four seasons with the Ridgebacks, he tallied 27 goals and 46 assists putting him fourth all-time in Ridgeback scoring. The graduate of the commerce program has also taken responsibility for the team’s off-ice training, while working alongside Mark Fitzgerald at Elite Training Systems as a strength coach.
