Whitney found his love of soccer in his childhood and continued on to play semi-professional and professional soccer in the UK at the adult level. In North America, he played in CPSL for the Durham Flames, Toronto Olympians and Mississauga Pro, where he was voted the league’s top defender.
Whitney started his coaching career with the Durham Region Soccer Association as an assistant coach and quickly moved up the ranks as he was assigned a head coaching job with both the boys and girls program, where he held this position for six years. He has worked alongside coach Vujanovic with the women's program at Durham College for six seasons as an assistant coach, winning four OCAA provincial titles and a national bronze medal.
He is currently coaching at various elite soccer academies in Ontario and helps local soccer clubs with high performance fitness soccer training.
Whitney offers specialized training programs designed around the UOIT varsity soccer team requirements. His programs allow fitness and progress to be monitored at the beginning through to the end of the program. Nutritional guidance and supplementary training programs are also provided. Each player is closely monitored to ensure optimal results during the season and assistance is given to the players during the off season period. He is also a Personal Training and Program Design Specialist at the Kinetic Surge Fitness Pros in Whitby.
