Melissa joined the Ridgebacks coaching staff after five seasons with the women's hockey program. 

During that time she was rookie of the year in 2010-11, a UOIT All-Academic in 2011-12 and 2013-14, top defensive player in 2013-14 and 2014-15, and team MVP in 2014-15. 

Over her five seasons she played 120 regular season games on the blue-line. During that time she scored 10 goals and 32 assists.
