Jackson joins the Ridgebacks with his most recent coaching experience coming with the Clarington Flames bantam AA and Clarington Toros midget AAA teams as a coach/mentor during the 2014-15 season. From 2012-14 he held the assistant coach title with the PWHL champion Whitby Junior Wolves.
Before coaching, his junior playing days started in Oshawa. He spent his time in the OHL with the Oshawa Generals from 1976-80 before two seasons in the IHL. In 1982 the Calgary Flames signed him, which is where he stayed until 1985. From 1986-90 he split his time between the Buffalo Sabres and their AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans. During that time he was a member of the 1987 Calder Cup championship team in Rochester.
