Reay-Laidler has been coaching hockey for over 20 plus years including at the University and Junior levels for both the women's and men's games. In women's hockey, he has coached for many organizations including Oshawa Lady Generals, Scarborough Sharks and Durham West Lightning. He also has experience coaching in the CIS as he was an assistant coach under Vicky Sunohara for the University of Toronto Varsity Blues during the 2011-12 season. On the men's side he has coached the Don Mills Flyers, Toronto Canadians, Markham Waxers, and Whitby Fury. He has also has worked as an instructor for many hockey schools in the U.S. and Canada.

Reay-Laidler first learned the great game of hockey at a young age travelling with his father who was a GM of two prominent hockey organizations and a recruiter/scout in the NCAA Division I. Coaching/teaching is a passion for Reay-Laidler, which can be seen in his many other coaching responsibilities that include baseball, ski instruction, and golf instruction.
