Eugene Alves has quite an impressive soccer resume as a player, coach and administrator.
 
Growing up in New Jersey, Alves played for a number of top clubs and earned a roster spot at Kean University of the NCAA from 1996 to 2000. As a four-year starter with the Cougars, he garnered a number of awards including being named the two-time goalkeeper of the year, a three-time NSCAA All-Mid Atlantic All-American and three-time All-Conference first team all-star. In 1998, he became the first goalkeeper in NCAA history to shutout an entire conference while going undefeated (28 goals for, 0 against). Alves graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Physical Education and Health.
 
Following his collegiate career, he played professionally for two years with the New York/New Jersey MetroStars (now known as the New York Red Bulls in the MLS) reserve team. In his first year with the team, the MetroStars were led by former United States national team coach Bob Bradley.
 
After moving to Canada in 2008, he immediately became involved with the soccer community as the head club goalkeeper coach and club technical coach of the Oshawa Kicks Soccer Club, a position he still holds today. He is also the director of goalkeeping at the Oshawa Kicks Soccer Academy and the District goalkeeper coach of the Durham Region Soccer Association.

Alves also has experience coaching in the OUA as he was the goalkeeper coach with the Trent University women’s team from 2011 to 2013.

He has a number of coaching licences including his NSCAA National Diploma, NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, NSCAA Premier Diploma and NSCAA National Goalkeeping Diploma Level 1, 2 & 3.
