Powers joins the Ridgebacks men's hockey program as the first full-time assistant coach.
Since retiring from professional hockey with Newfoundland Growlers and Indy Fuel (ECHL), Powers stepped into several leadership roles, making him the perfect addition to the program. He played for the Growlers and Fuel from 2018-20 after spending 2014-18 in the NCAA with Robert Morris University.

In 2020, Powers became the youngest general manager in the Ontario Junior Hockey League, taking the Aurora Tigers from seven wins to 25, securing a playoff berth, and helping multiple athletes receive scholarships. In addition to being general manager, he balanced the roles of assistant coach and director of player personnel for the Tigers.
