Ontario Tech men’s hockey ends road trip with loss in Ottawa

OTTAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech men's hockey team closed out its road swing with a 3–1 setback against the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Saturday, January 24.

After a scoreless opening period, Ottawa broke through midway through the second frame and carried a two-goal lead into the third. The Ontario Tech men's hockey team pushed back late, getting on the board early in the final period, but was unable to complete the comeback.

Gabriel Bernier scored the lone goal for the Ontario Tech men's hockey team at 4:41 of the third period, finishing off a play set up by Nolan Ford and Kyle Leonard. The goal cut the deficit to one and briefly swung momentum in Ontario Tech's favour.

Ottawa responded with an insurance marker late in the third to seal the result.

Edouard Gauthier made 42 saves in goal for the Ontario Tech men's hockey team, facing heavy pressure throughout the afternoon as the Gee-Gees held a significant edge in shots. Ontario Tech went 0-for-6 on the power play, while Ottawa was also held scoreless with the man advantage.

The Ontario Tech men's hockey team will now return home to the Campus Ice Centre to host Concordia on Thursday, January 29.
