TORONTO, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's hockey team earned a hard-fought 5–4 victory over Toronto on Sunday, January 18, rallying from a third-period push by the Varsity Blues to secure the road win.
Emily Harrison opened the scoring late in the first period at 15:31, finishing a play set up by Amy Hermer to give the Ridgebacks a 1–0 lead after 20 minutes.
Toronto responded early in the second period, but Ontario Tech answered quickly. Cassandra Delves restored the Ridgebacks' lead just 26 seconds later, converting a feed from Milana Perri and Robyn Storey. Ontario Tech continued to build momentum midway through the frame as Ella Dickson scored at 9:48, followed by Harrie Jones at 13:02, with Julia Jackson and Harrison picking up assists.
Toronto closed the gap late in the second, sending the teams into the intermission with Ontario Tech holding a 4–2 advantage.
The Varsity Blues mounted a comeback early in the third period, scoring twice in the opening two minutes to even the game at 4–4. Ontario Tech settled in and capitalized on the power play at 9:00, as Jones netted her second goal of the night on the man advantage, assisted by Delves.
Jones led the Ridgebacks offensively with two goals and an assist, while Harrison added a goal and an assist. Delves finished with a goal and an assist, and Jackson recorded two helpers.
Ontario Tech will return to action on Friday, January 23, when the Ridgebacks host the Ottawa Gee-Gees at home.
