OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech men's basketball team dropped a 57–48 decision to the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday night at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
The Ridgebacks erased an early deficit and briefly grabbed momentum in the second quarter, trimming a 22–8 first-quarter hole by outscoring Guelph 20–12 to head into halftime trailing 34–28. Ontario Tech continued to battle defensively in the second half, but Guelph limited the Ridgebacks to eight points in the fourth quarter to secure the road win.
Keon Baker led Ontario Tech with 22 points, adding three steals and two assists, while
Tombe Pitia recorded a strong all-around performance with eight points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks.
Caleb Kassa chipped in nine points, four rebounds, and two assists in the effort.
Defensively, Ontario Tech matched Guelph on the glass with 32 rebounds apiece, but turnovers proved costly as the Gryphons converted 22 points off giveaways.
The Ridgebacks will look to bounce back on Friday, January 23 when they travel to face the Brock Badgers.
