OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks honoured six graduating seniors in the final home game of the year, and fell 3-0 to the visiting Ottawa Gee-Gees.
The Ridgebacks welcomed friends and family of Paige Wagner, Emilie Simmons, Nicole Escano, Alyssa Denney, Baie Marcantonio and Kayla Welk before the game and honoured all of their athletic and academic achievements.Â
Goaltender Zoe McGee stood tall for the Ridgebacks, turning aside 41 shots in a valiant effort. Despite her heroics, Ontario Tech struggled offensively, managing just eight shots on goal.
Ottawa opened the scoring late in the second period with a goal from Kate Maloney. The Gee-Gees added two more in the third, with Florence Lessard striking at 5:45 and Alyssa Biesenthal converting on the power play at 13:40.
The Ridgebacks will finish up the season on the road with their next stop in Ottawa, Ont. on Friday, February 14 to take on the Carleton Ravens.
