OSHAWA, Ont. – Justin Svenson scored just 21 seconds into overtime as the Ontario Tech men's hockey team edged the Carleton Ravens 3-2 on Friday night at the Campus Ice Centre.
Nick McCarry opened the scoring for Carleton midway through the first period, then doubled the Ravens' lead early in the second with a power-play goal. Ontario Tech responded with two unanswered goals in the middle frame as Alex Drover buried a power-play marker at 8:52 before Braiden Koran tied it at 17:00 to send the game to overtime.
Svenson completed the comeback in extra time, converting passes from Duston Hutton and Antoine Desrochers for the winner.
Goaltender Édouard Gauthier earned the win with 26 saves, while Carleton's Tye Austin turned aside 26 shots in the loss.
The Ridgebacks outshot the Ravens 29-28 and finished 1-for-3 on the power play. Carleton went 1-for-4 with the man advantage.
Ontario Tech will host the Ottawa Gee-Gees next Friday, October 10 at 7 p.m. for the annual Country Night.
