OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ridgebacks lacrosse program welcomed teams from across the province to Oshawa on Sunday and went home with a perfect 2-0 record.
The day started with an 8 a.m. matchup with the Guelph Gryphons, where the Ridgebacks picked up a dominant 13-4 win. Jailyn Joensen (Whitby, Ont.) continued to be a force on offence with four goals, and Audrey Taylor (Bowmanville, Ont.) chipped in three of her own.
Before the Ridgebacks' final game of the day, they honoured their graduating seniors, Joensen, Kendra Orr (Brooklin, Ont.), Lauren Mata (Richmond Hill, Ont.), Maeya Price (Whitby, Ont.), Rachel Kucera (Oshawa, Ont.) and Chloe Tapper (Brooklin, Ont.) and Taylor Beam (Brooklin, Ont.)
They finished the day with an 11-7 win over the Laurier Golden Hawks, where Orr led the way with four goals, including a highlight reel behind the back goal. Taylor and Joensen also contributed two goals to the victory.
The Ridgebacks will finish the season on the road, with a matchup with the Brock Badgers next on Saturday, September 28 and meeting with the Trent Excalibur in Toronto on October 6 and the Toronto Varsity Blues on October 20.
