WATERLOO, Ont.  – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks women's hockey team secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday night.

The Ridgebacks opened the scoring in the first period with Julia Jackson finding the net at 5:55, assisted by Mackenna Krulicki.

Laurier responded in the second period with Elle Spencer capitalizing on a power play, leveling the game at 1-1 with assists from Ella Jackson and Brianna Bowman.

The decisive moment came in the third period when Ontario Tech's Nicole Escano scored a power-play goal at 11:06, assisted by Kayla Welk, putting the Ridgebacks ahead.

Goalie Zoe McGee played a vital role in securing the win, making 43 saves on 44 shots, as Ontario Tech's defense held strong to prevent a Laurier comeback.
