OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks women's hockey team opened their season with a 3-0 loss to the Guelph Gryphons at the Campus Ice Centre on Friday night.
Guelph opened the scoring late in the first period, with Alexie Olivier notching her first goal of the season at 18:59. The Gryphons extended their lead in the second when Katelyn Dance scored with just two seconds left in the period, assisted by Michelle Gao and Maddie Min.
Ridgebacks goaltender, Zoe McGee (Kanata, Ont.), started in net and had 33 saves.
The Ridgebacks pulled McGee for an extra attacker late in the third period, but Guelph's Katherine Heard sealed the game with an empty-net, short-handed goal at 19:59.
Ontario Tech will be back on the ice on Thursday, October 17 when they take on the Windsor Lancers on the road at noon.
