The Ridgebacks women's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season Sunday afternoon, falling 2-0 to the Queen's Gaels.
The Gaels were able to strike early in the game with a goal from Lilly Goss in the opening moments of the game, but the Ridgebacks composed themselves were solid defensively.
Alicia Chisholm (Woodbridge, Ont.) contributed to the effort with two back-to-back penalty saves after being called for leaving her line early. Queen's found another goal from Leda Naihin in the second half to secure the two-goal victory.
With the first road trip of the season in the books, the Ridgebacks will next prepare themselves to return to Vaso's Field on Sept. 5 when they take on the Durham Lords for the annual Campus Cup bragging rights and their home opener on Sept. 9 when they take on the visiting Laurentian Voyageurs.
