OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's lacrosse team welcomed fans to their home opener on Sunday.
The opening game saw the Ridgebacks match up with the Toronto Varsity Blues, who lost to the Ridgebacks 14-12 last weekend. The Varsity Blues opened the scoring with Rylin Cormier getting an assist from Michaela Kitor, and the two teams traded leads throughout the contest.
Kendra Orr (Brooklin, Ont.) scored twice, including a highlight reel spin move, and picked up an assist.
Jailyn Joensen (Whitby, Ont.) scored five times.
Jolie Jankowski (Courtice, Ont.) and
Rachel Kucera (Oshawa, Ont.) both added a goal as well.

The Ridgebacks fell just short of a comeback in the final minute of the game, with a shot from Orr bouncing on to the goal line before being swept off Kotis Kwok to secure a 12-11 win for the Varsity Blues.

In the second game of the day, the Ridgebacks fell to the visiting Queen's Gaels 19-4.
Joensen added two goals, to go along with a
Chloe Tapper goal and another point from Orr.
The Ridgebacks will get an extended break before returning to action on Oct. 14 when they face the Brock Badgers on the road.
