Toronto, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's lacrosse team picked up their first win of the season with a 14-9 showing against the Toronto Varsity Blues on the road.
In the first game of the day, the Ridgebacks fell to the Trent Excalibur in a 19-2 loss, but
Jailyn Joensen (Whitby, Ont.) showed signs of things to come in the second game by scoring both of the Ridgebacks goals.
The Ridgebacks caught fire in the second game against Toronto, with Joensen pouring in eight goals to go along with an assist.
Rachel Kucera (Oshawa, Ont.) opened the scoring six minutes into the game, and
Kendra Orr (Brooklin, Ont.),
Jolie Jankowski (Courtice, Ont.) also recorded goals in the Ridgebacks win.
Ontario Tech returns to Vaso's Field for their first home games of the season on September 24 with a 9 a.m. match up against Toronto and a 3:15 p.m. game against Queen's.
