Welk scores lone goal in Ridgebacks final game of the season

The Ontario Tech women's team hosted the Nippising Lakers for their final game of the 2022-23 season.The Lakers defeated the Ridgebacks 2-1 on Saturday night.

Prior to the game, graduating seniors were recognized, including Erin Ross, Brooke Vial, Katie Mikkelson, Mackenzie Krasowski, Brooklyn Duff and Madeline Schroder.

After a scoreless first period, Nipissing's Ashley Taciuk opened the scoring at the 6:24 mark of the second. Kayla Welk (Barrie, Ont.) evened the score two minutes into the third before Malory Dominico put in the game-winning goal for the Lakers at the 7:28 mark.
 
Ridgebacks' goalie Brooke Vial (Port Moody, B.C.) made 23 saves in the final start of her OUA career. With Saturday's loss the Ridgebacks 2022-2023 season came to an end. 

The Ridgebacks will be back in action in September.
