OSHAWA, Ont. – Ridgebacks women's hockey team has ended their six game losing streak with a 3-2 win over the Western Mustangs on Sunday afternoon.
After falling down 1-0 in the first the Ridgebacks tied the game on an excellent play by
Elissa Burton (Bowmanville, Ont) that was finished off by
Emily Davis-Tope (Bendigo, Australia).
After falling down 2-1 after the second period,
Harrie Jones (Ottawa, Ont) and
Nicole Escano (Kingston, Ont) scored goals in quick succession to put the Ridgebacks ahead.
Zoe McGee (Kanata, Ont) was phenomenal keeping the Ridgebacks in the game, in the early going when the offense was struggling and closed the door in the third period to seal the victory.
The Ridgebacks will be back in action on Nov. 10 when they travel to Toronto to take on the York Lions.
