TORONTO, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks Men's basketball team picked up a big win on the road, taking down the TMU Bold 74-72.
The Ridgebacks were led by
Ayub Nurhussien (Hamilton, Ont.) with 18 points and 4 rebounds.
Keon Baker (Pickering, Ont.) assisted the scoring with 16 points.
The Ridgebacks were able to keep the lead in the first two quarters, keeping a two point lead against the Bold, although they were able to keep the momentum going as they played through the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Ontario Tech worked defensively to maintain the lead against the Bold and in the final minutes, Baker drilled a three to tie the game, and after a block from Nurhussien, Baker made a contested layup to seal the win with one second left.
This now marks the Ridgebacks second defeat of a nationally ranked team this season, previously defeating the third ranked Queen's Gaels.
The Ridgebacks look to continue their winning streak against the Algoma Thunderbirds at home on Dec. 1 at 2 p.m.
