NORTH BAY, Ont. – The Ridgebacks hot start to the 2023-24 season continued on Friday night as they picked up their third win in a row, downing the Nipissing Lakers 75-65.
With starting point guard
Zubair Seyed (Cambridge, Ont.) unvailable for tonights match up, the Ridgebacks started slow, going toe-to-toe with the Lakers for the first two quarters – but momentum began to swing in Ontario Tech's favour after the halftime break.
The Ridgebacks exploded out of the break with 23 points in the third quarter, led by
Keon Baker (Pickering, Ont.) who had 19 points and nine rebounds on the night. The Ridgebacks also locked in defensively and held Nipissing to just nine points in the third quarter.
Ayub Nurhussien (Hamilton, Ont.) also chipped in 18 points and five rebounds, while veteran guard
Levi Ogbonna (Toronto, Ont.) stepped into the starting line up and had 14 points, five rebounds and shot two-of-two from three point range.
The Ridgebacks will finish their northern Ontario road trip on Saturday night when they have another rematch with the Laurentian Voyaguers at 8 p.m.
