The Ontario Tech women's hockey team took a hard 4-3 loss on Friday night against the Nipissing Lakers.
 
Ontario Tech's Kayla Welk (Barrie, Ont.), and Victoria Solti (Bowmanville, Ont.) both scored to end the first period 2-1.
 
After the second, Tech was still up as Katie Mikkelsen (Oshawa, Ont.) scored to give the Ridgebacks a two-goal lead going into the third.
 
The Lakers came out strong in the third period scoring three of their four goals and taking home the win.
 
In net, Brooke Vial (Port Moody, B.C.) made 38 saves.
 
The women's hockey team hit the ice next Sunday, 3 p.m. at the Campus Ice Centre against the Queen's Gaels.
