Men's basketball takes nation's No. 1 team down to the wire

The Ontario Tech men's basketball team traveled to Ottawa to take on the No. 1 ranked Carleton Ravens on Friday night. In what was arguably their best effort of the season, the Ridgebacks came up just short as they were defeated 72-71.

After a close first half, the Ridgebacks found themselves down by just seven to the powerhouse Ravens. Ontario Tech outscored Carleton 34-28 in the second, but ultimately came up one point short. Down the stretch they led by two with just 1:15 to go. 

Carleton's Marjok Okado led the team in scoring, finishing with 19 points. Grant Shepard also had a strong performance for the Ravens, finishing with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Stefan Prica (Etobicoke, Ont.) finished as the game's top scorer with 23 points. Levi Ogbonna (Toronto, Ont.) put up 19 points, four rebounds, and four assists. Jaden Coke (Ajax, Ont.) also had a good night as he finished with 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists. 

Ontario Tech's next game will on Saturday, Jan. 14 against the Ottawa Gee-Gees in Ottawa. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
