The Ontario Tech women's lacrosse team picked up their first win of the season on Sunday when they defeated the McMaster Marauders 12-9. The Ridgebacks also took on the Laurier Golden Hawks, but were defeated 10-9.

After a tight first half against the Marauders, the Ridgebacks held a 6-5 lead heading into the break. They were able to maintain that lead through the final two quarters and outscore McMaster 6-4 in the second half.

Caitlyn Cote (Oshawa, Ont.) lit up the scoresheet on Sunday, as she finished with seven goals against the Marauders.
Hannah Bragg (Oshawa. Ont.) scored twice and
Kendra Orr (Brooklin, Ont.) recorded a goal and an assist in Sunday's win.

In the second game of Sunday's doubleheader, the Ridgebacks found themselves trailing the Golden Hawks 7-3 at the half. Despite a furious comeback in which they outscored Laurier 6-3, the Ridgebacks would ultimately come up short.

Cote had another strong performance as she finished with five goals and an assist. Bragg found the back of the net twice for the second time on Sunday.

The Ridgebacks will return to action on Oct. 8 when they take on the Toronto Varsity Blues and the Queen's Gaels in Oshawa. The first game will start at 9 a.m. with the second following at 3:15 pm.
