OSHAWA, Ont. – Returning to the postseason for the first time since 2014, the Ontario Tech women's hockey program had their home ice appearance soured by the Queen's Gaels.
Queen's dropped Ontario Tech 4-2 to advance in the McCaw Cup playoffs and face the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday.
Prior to the game, Ontario Tech alumna Sarah Worthington was present to drop the puck. Worthington was member of the Ridgebacks from 2009-14 and sits third in all-time points with 38 goals and 45 assists. She also had a goal with two assists in our last women's hockey playoff game in 2014 against Laurier.
First-year forward
Lauren Beaulieu (Caistorville, Ont.) opened the scoring in the game, putting the Ridgebacks ahead 1-0 with her power play marker 12:21 into the second.
From there the Gaels scored four unanswered.
Mackenzie Krasowski (Keswick, Ont.) scored late in the third to cut the lead to two.
Zoe McGee (Kanata, Ont.) made 33 stops in the loss, while Makenzy Arsenault made 27 in the victory.
This wraps up the Ridgebacks season for 2021-22.
