Lacrosse plays final home games of OUA season

In their final two home games of the 2022 season, the Ontario Tech women's lacrosse team took on the Toronto Varsity Blues and the Queen's Gaels on Saturday.

The Varsity Blues defeated the Ridgebacks 15-8 in the first game of Saturday's action. Caitlyn Cote (Oshawa,Ont.) led the way for Ontario Tech, as she finished with four goals. Catherine Vinkovic (Oshawa, Ont.) scored twice, while Kendra Orr (Brooklin, Ont.) and Rebecca Andrew (Whitby, Ont.) each added lone tallies.

Before the start of the second game, Ontario Tech honoured the teams' graduating seniors, which included Cote, Hannah Bragg, Abigail Giesbrecht, Ayden Briggs, Kelsey Cluett, Grace Mubiala and Tanner Gustavsen-Walker. The Gaels went on to defeat the Ridgebacks 18-5. Cote and Orr each scored twice in the loss, while Victoria Solti (Bowmanville, Ont.) scored once.

Their final home date was also Lady Blue Knights Day, with U-11 and U-13 players showcasing their skills at halftime of each game.

The Ridgebacks travel to Hamilton next Saturday to take on the Western Mustangs and the Guelph Gryphons. The first game starts at 8 a.m., with the second following at 3:30 p.m. Their final game of the season before the OUA championship is the following morning on October 16 at 8:15 a.m. against the Brock Badgers.
